The Best Way To Cook Bacon

Bacon is a staple in our house. We cook it at least two times a week. We bought a hog and had it butchered, so we make sure to get a good chunk of bacon out of it.

Omelets

Bacon-topped burger patties

Bacon-wrapped asparagus

Salad topping

… The list goes on…

Even my kids love bacon

Awhile back, we found the best way to cook bacon that doesn’t involve flipping, splattering or curling.

Place the delicious strips of bacon on a pan lined with foil. Do NOT preheat the oven. I repeat, do NOT preheat the oven.

Place the pan in cold oven. THEN, turn the oven on to 400 and set the timer for 15 minutes. (You may need a few extra minutes depending on the thickness of the bacon and how crispy you want it. You could even start with 13 minutes if you like it softer.)

Take the pan out of the oven and place the bacon on some paper towels.

That’s it!  No flipping the bacon. No grease splattering all over. And it stays flat… no curling or uneven cooking!

I put mine on a baking-style cooling rack set on top of a cookie sheet, and all the grease drips down into the pan! It has the most amazing crispy texture too!
